Barbara Lanham, a professor of music, holds degrees in music education from Northwestern University (B.M.E.) and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (M.S.). She has taken additional graduate courses work in both piano pedagogy and choral music at Northern Illinois University, Western Illinois Univeraity, the University of Illinois, DuQuesne University and Central Connecticut University. Barbara teaches Class Piano and Music Fundamentals and directs the College Choir and Madrigal Singers at LLCC. She also coordinates the private applied music program at LLCC. She has served on the governing boards of the Illinois State Music Teachers Association and the East Central Division Board of the Music Teachers National Association. Barbara has presented sessions entitled "Its Never Too Late: Class Piano for the Older Learner" at the Illinois and Minnesota-State Music Teachers Associations' State Conventions, the Music Teachers Association National Convention and the International Society of Music Educators World Conference. She has also presented at the National Conference on Piano Pedagogy and been published in Clavier Magazine. Barbara was the director of Lincoln Land Community College's first Madrigal Dinner, an event that will celebrate its 27th anniversary in 2005. LLCC choir students, under Barbara's direction, have participated in Honor Choirs sponsored by the American Choral Director's Association and sung in Carnegie Hall as part of the National Community College Choir Festival in 2000 and 2004.
